If you’d like to extend your trip, Belo Horizonte is a joy to explore at a relaxed pace — and there are some amazing day trips nearby too.

In Belo Horizonte

Must-see classics (architecture + culture)

  • Praça da Liberdade (Cultural Circuit): beautiful gardens plus museums and cultural centers all around
  • Pampulha: BH’s iconic postcard area (the lagoon + a gorgeous sunset)

Eat, drink, and get a taste of BH

  • Mercado Central: cheeses, sweets, cachaça, and all the classic Minas snacks
  • Mercado Novo: a more modern vibe (food, drinks, small shops)
  • Savassi (Sergipe / Fernandes Tourinho): lots of bars and restaurants—easy to go out and get back
  • Rua Sapucaí: bars with a view, perfect for late afternoon/night
  • Feira Hippie (Sunday morning): crafts, souvenirs, and a very local BH stroll

Nature + viewpoints (inside the city)

  • Mangabeiras Lookout + Mangabeiras Palace: one of the best views in BH, with a palace designed by Oscar Niemeyer nearby.
